General Technician – HVAC

Position Overview & Role Purpose:

Are you a skilled and certified mechanical technician with specialized expertise in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems? Hyde Hotel Dubai (part of Accor and Ennismore) is seeking a dedicated General Technician – HVAC to join its engineering and facilities maintenance team in Dubai, UAE.

In this vital technical role, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all HVAC systems, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), chillers, and exhaust fans across the hotel complex, ensuring optimal indoor climate control, energy efficiency, and absolute guest comfort.

Key Responsibilities & HVAC Maintenance Duties:

1. HVAC Operations & Preventive Maintenance:

– Execute routine and preventive maintenance schedules on all air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and climate control equipment.

– Monitor temperature controls, chiller performance, AHUs, FCUs, thermostats, and ductwork to ensure seamless operation.

– Respond promptly to guest room and public area maintenance calls, diagnosing and resolving HVAC issues efficiently.

2. Troubleshooting & Equipment Repair:

– Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic controls associated with HVAC systems using diagnostic tools.

– Perform overhauls, filter replacements, coil cleanings, refrigerant leak checks, and compressor repairs in accordance with safety standards.

– Maintain accurate records of completed work orders, equipment inspections, and spare parts inventory.

3. Compliance, Safety & Cross-Functional Support:

– Ensure strict compliance with local UAE building codes, environmental regulations, and hotel fire safety protocols.

– Collaborate smoothly with the engineering, housekeeping, and front office teams to resolve room maintenance issues prior to guest check-in.

– Adhere to hotel energy-conservation initiatives and sustainability guidelines.

Qualifications, Required Experience & Core Competencies:

– Academic Credentials:

  * High School Diploma with a vocational trade certificate, diploma, or relevant technical certification in HVAC or Mechanical Engineering.

– Professional Experience:

  * Minimum 2 to 4 years of hands-on HVAC maintenance experience, preferably within a 4- or 5-star hotel, resort, or large-scale commercial property environment.

– Skills & Personal Attributes:

  * Comprehensive knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical controls, schematic reading, and HVAC diagnostic tools.

  * Strong problem-solving abilities, physical stamina, and a detail-oriented work ethic.

  * Professional fluency in written and spoken English; additional languages are an advantage.
