Position Overview & Role Purpose:
Responsible for transcribing dictated medical material into clear and understandable text for the purpose of accurately and timely documenting patient care across medical reports, operative summaries, and clinical notes[span_1](start_span)[span_1](end_span).

Key Responsibilities & Operational Duties:
– Ensure accurate and timely transcription of medical reports including discharge summaries, operative reports, cardiology reports, EEG reports, pathology reports, medical evaluations, consultation notes, and progress notes[span_3](start_span)[span_3](end_span).
– Apply extensive knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes to proofread and edit medical dictation from originators with various accents[span_4](start_span)[span_4](end_span).
– Clarify unclear information by reviewing electronic medical records (EMR) or consulting with physicians and nursing units[span_5](start_span)[span_5](end_span).
– Manage deficiency tracking, update modules when deficiency status changes, and eliminate duplicate records[span_6](start_span)[span_6](end_span).
– Maintain strict performance standards, clinical terminologies, and quality monitoring logs on a daily basis[span_7](start_span)[span_7](end_span).
Qualifications, Required Experience & Core Competencies:
– Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
– Certification & Experience: Special certificate with 2 to 4 years of medical transcription experience in an acute care hospital setting or comparable setting is required[span_8](start_span)[span_8](end_span). Experience in a large healthcare facility is preferred[span_9](start_span)[span_9](end_span).
– Core Skills: In-depth knowledge of medical transcription guidelines, excellent command of medical terminology, and strong attention to detail.
