Taiba Hospital
Taiba Hospital, a premier private healthcare provider renowned for delivering exceptional medical services, patient care, and clinical excellence in Kuwait, is actively seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to join its dynamic team as a Medical Coding Officer. Based within our Patient Accounting Services department, this full-time role plays a critical part in bridging clinical care with financial administration by translating medical services into accurate, compliant, and standardized codes.
Role Overview & Core Responsibilities:
As a Medical Coding Officer at Taiba Hospital, your primary mission is to ensure that all patient records are thoroughly reviewed and coded with uncompromising precision. You will be responsible for reviewing comprehensive medical records and assigning precise diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with international coding guidelines. Key responsibilities include selecting principal diagnoses and procedures while ensuring correct sequencing for all secondary codes.
In this capacity, you will work closely with physicians, clinical staff, and fellow coders to resolve any documentation gaps, inconsistencies, or missing information. Your day-to-day duties will also involve providing active support for daily Operating Theatre audits, verifying infusion coding accuracy, maintaining complete and secure health records, and ensuring strict adherence to patient privacy and confidentiality regulations. You will be expected to effectively manage workflow escalations, ensuring that any outstanding uncoded records are flagged and addressed within established hospital timelines.
Key Performance Indicators & Success Metrics:
Success in this role is measured through several vital benchmarks: achieving 100% of discharged patient records coded within the designated timeline, maintaining greater than 95% accuracy in principal diagnosis and procedure selection, ensuring timely escalation of uncoded files, and actively contributing to audit precision. Proficiency in utilizing the hospital information system and electronic medical record (EMR) platforms is essential for optimizing departmental efficiency.
Candidate Profile, Qualifications & Requirements:
To thrive in this specialized healthcare environment, candidates should possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, health information management, or a related discipline. Applicants must bring 1 to 3 years of hands-on professional experience in medical coding or clinical documentation within a reputable healthcare facility. Holding a recognized professional coding certification—such as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)—will be considered a distinct advantage.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a solid, working understanding of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, and standard diagnosis coding classifications. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) software and hospital billing systems is mandatory. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required to facilitate professional interactions with clinicians, alongside computer literacy across Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Core Competencies & Workplace Values:
Taiba Hospital values professionals who exhibit exceptional attention to detail, uncompromising integrity, and strict adherence to patient data confidentiality. We look for proactive individuals who demonstrate initiative in closing documentation gaps, a commitment to continuous learning in medical coding practices, and a strong collaborative spirit to support seamless partnerships across clinical and finance departments.
