Talabat is looking for an experienced Director Public Policy & Government Affairs in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
This senior leadership role leads talabat’s regulatory and government engagement across priority GCC and MENA markets. The director works with senior leadership to anticipate policy risk, shape government frameworks and position talabat as a credible long-term partner to regulators and public institutions.
About the role
The work combines external influence, policy strategy and internal leadership, with direct exposure to C-suite decisions. It is a strong fit for a policy professional who has already influenced regulatory outcomes in complex, highly regulated markets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead engagement with government bodies, regulators, competition authorities and public-sector stakeholders across the region.
Shape policy and regulatory frameworks covering competition and pricing, platform regulation, labour and workforce models, consumer protection, and digital, data and sustainability policy.
Build and run advocacy strategies that support business priorities.
Represent talabat in industry associations, councils and working groups.
Anticipate regulatory and political risk and advise senior leadership on timing, likelihood and impact.
Support crisis response and regulatory escalations that affect operations.
Work closely with Communications, Legal, Operations, Finance and Strategy.
Act as an internal centre of excellence for government engagement and public-policy standards.
Coach market teams on effective and compliant government relations.

Qualifications & Requirements
10+ years in public policy, government affairs, regulatory strategy or public-sector leadership.
Proven success influencing policy or regulation in the GCC and/or wider MENA region.
Hands-on experience with ministers, regulators, senior civil servants and competition authorities.
Background in a highly regulated sector.
Strong understanding of how regulation affects growth, margins, market structure and investor confidence.
Executive presence, sound judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively in politically sensitive settings.
