Hull Inspector – LNG Newbuild Shipyards, South Korea

Nakilat is looking for an experienced Hull Inspector in South Korea (Samho, Ulsan, Geoje).

 

This site role (Ref. 21266) inspects hull work during LNG newbuild construction. Locations listed are HSHI Samho, HHI Ulsan and HANWHA Geoje. The post reports to the Hull Lead.

 

About the role

 

The inspector attends production, tests and scheduled inspections so hull work matches the shipbuilding contract, class rules and shareholder SHES standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Inspect hull construction, including steel cutting, structural fitting, welding, hull outfit and hull systems.

 

Check that the yard meets the contract, specifications, approved plans and class or regulatory rules.

 

Attend scheduled inspections, tests and demonstrations.

 

Coordinate with other inspectors.

 

Raise SHES concerns to the Safety Coordinator and Site Team Manager.

 

Work to the vessel delivery schedule.

 

Write status reports as required.

 

Who this role is suitable for

 

This role suits a hull or shipbuilding inspector who has already worked on large-vessel construction, preferably LNG carriers.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

 

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or similar.

 

Minimum 5 years on large-vessel construction, including at least 2 years on LNG carriers or equivalent.

 

Strong knowledge of hull steelwork, welding, outfit and hull systems.

 

Good written and spoken English.

 

Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills on a multicultural yard.

 

Microsoft Word and Excel for status reports.
