Position Overview & Role Purpose:

In this vital clinical and operational role, the Pharmacist is responsible for accurately dispensing prescribed medications, offering expert pharmaceutical counseling to patients, monitoring drug interactions, and maintaining strict compliance with regional health authority regulations and inventory standards.

Key Responsibilities & Pharmacy Operations Duties:

1. Prescription Dispensing & Patient Care:
– Review, interpret, and verify physician prescriptions to ensure accuracy, proper dosage, and safety before dispensing medications.
– Dispense pharmaceutical products, medical appliances, and over-the-counter (OTC) items accurately and efficiently.
– Provide clear, empathetic medication counseling to patients regarding dosage instructions, potential side effects, contraindications, and proper storage.

2. Medication Safety, Inventory & Quality Control:
– Monitor patient medication profiles to identify potential drug interactions, allergies, or contraindications.
– Manage pharmacy inventory levels, track expiration dates, conduct regular stock counts, and handle secure storage of controlled substances.
– Maintain a clean, sterile, and well-organized dispensary in strict accordance with health ministry guidelines and infection control standards.

3. Regulatory Compliance & Administrative Reporting:
– Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with local health authority regulations (such as Qatar Ministry of Public Health standards).
– Maintain accurate electronic medical records, prescription logs, and transaction documentation.
– Coordinate with clinic staff, physicians, and medical suppliers to resolve prescription discrepancies and secure product availability.

Qualifications, Required Experience & Core Competencies:

– Academic & Professional Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Pharm.D from a recognized university.
* Valid professional license to practice pharmacy (or eligibility to obtain local licensing via the Qatar Department of Healthcare Professions – QCHP).
– Practical Experience:
* Minimum 2 to 4+ years of clinical or retail pharmacy experience within a hospital, medical center, or community pharmacy setting.
– Skills & Personal Attributes:
* Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology, pharmaceutical products, and medical terminology.
* Excellent interpersonal, active listening, and customer service skills with high attention to detail.
* Professional fluency in written and spoken English; conversational Arabic or additional languages are a strong advantage.
